A CAMP WITH A DIFFERENCE
For the second year running, this unique camp brings together young people from different countries . Aimed at students between the ages of 13 and 17. The camp provides the opportunity to enhance performing arts skills and sports while the same time broadening cultural horizons and having fun!

VENUE:
The camp takes place at Buckden Towers, an historic and charming complex of Elizabethan buildings set in beautiful grounds on the outskirts of the village of Buckden, Cambridgeshire.

Drama related activities
- Preparation for the stage production of "Catherine of Aragon", a play based on Shakespeare“s "The Life of Henry VIII". The performance will take place in the gardens of Buckden Towers on the final evening of the camp, Wednesday 26th July, with family and friends invited to attend.

Sporting activities:
Football league with the chance to win the Buckden Towers Cup! Great Britain vs Spain with cheerleaders for each team (voluntary activity)
Outdoor games, wides games

Creativity Competition
Enter your photographs, paintings, or sculptures artistic or engineering installations into the Creativity Competition.
A display of all creative works will take place on the final day with prizes first, second and third place being awarded after the performance of the play.

Day trip to the beautiful town of Stratford upon Avon, birthplace of W Shakespeare.

Voluntary Spanish lessons for English people (total 12 lessons. 1 hour each)
Farewell Party on 25th July in the King“s Room
Film Night, followed by discussion about the film

Dates:
Friday 14th July-Wednesday 26th July (Parents can collect their children directly after the performance)
ā
Accommodation:
Dormitory style accommodation in the Tudor Towers of Buckden Towers, with separate dormitories for boys and girls.
Each dormitory will have its own qualified monitor.
ā
Meals and laundry:
A variety of Spanish and British food (Vegetarian menu available and catering for allergies/intolerances also available)
ā
One laundry wash will be offered towards the middle of the student“s stay.
ALL ACTIVITIES ARE IN ENGLISH ALL ACTIVITIES DONE IN PAIRS
All the activities will take place in English, with students being paired up-a Spanish boy/girl with an English boy/girl.
ā
For English teenagers who wish to improve their Spanish skills, language classes will take place Monday to Saturday, 9.15am-10.15am - a total of 12 classes. The Spanish classes are optional. Please advise if you would like to take part in these so we can arrange appropriate staffing. (The classes will be very practical and funny. Conversations etc) Those children not attending the Spanish classes will partake in other activities-these vary from day to day, but will include sport, painting, photography...

The English students will help the Spanish to improve their English during an activity in the morning. They will recive a certificate for helping.

In the afternoons at the camp, everyone will be involved in the preparation of the drama production. Students can choose to participate in one of the following departments:

1) Marketing and Promotion.
Students will be in charge of marketing materials, ticketing, posters, souvenirs...
2) Technical Department
Students will be responsible for set-building, lighting, sound etc...
3) Artistic Department
Acting and playing music.

Spanish/English food




Both English and Spanish staff in charge of the camp are experienced in working with young people and have been a DBS checked.
ā
The event is covered by accident and public liability insurance.
The price is all-inclusive, with the exception of transport to and from the camp on day of arrival (14th July) and the day of departure (26th July after the performance)
